<p>Short answer: Yes, but you&#8217;re not the only one. Christ was sent by the Father to rescue sinners; one problem though, rescuing sinners from death required a redemption payment of &#8211; death &#8211; and not just any death, but the death of a spotless, sinless, Savior. That is why the Savior came &#8211; the &#8220;Incarnate&#8221; one &#8211; God in flesh. The only way to become a sinless man was to be born a &#8220;son of man&#8221; and live a sinless life, which he did, and all has been recorded of his life &#8211; and death &#8211; in Holy Scripture.</p>
<p>We are told in Ephesians 2, we were not just responsible but culpable:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 40px;"><em><img class=" wp-image-5357 alignright" src="https://theweakandthefew.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/crowd-before-cross-300x169.png" alt="" width="332" height="187" /><strong>Ephesians 2:1</strong> <span class="text Eph-2-1">And you were dead in your trespasses and sins 2 </span><span id="en-HCSB-29230" class="text Eph-2-2">in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world&#8230; 3 </span><span id="en-HCSB-29231" class="text Eph-2-3">We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also.</span></em></p>
<p>When Horatius Bonar, a Scottish preacher from the 19th century contemplated his own culpability, he wrote these words:</p>

I nailed Him to the tree<br />
I crucified the Christ of God<br />
I joined the mockery<br />
Of all that shouting multitude<br />
I feel that I am one<br />
And in that din of voices rude<br />
I recognize my own</em></p>
<p>What a horrible feeling it is when we come to grips with the truth that it was &#8220;our&#8221; sin &#8211; or more appropriately &#8211; &#8220;my&#8221; sin that required his death. Not only that, but that I nailed him to the tree; I spit on him; my mocking voice called out for him to be whipped and crucified. Even his own disciples fled from him during his trial and execution &#8211; remember Peter who denied him three times after his bold promise to never betray him. Yet, even while on the cross, Christ beckoned his Father to forgive and after his resurrection appeared to all his disciples and showered them with love and hope for their own resurrection. We have that same promise as rescued souls through trust in his redemption.</p>
<p>Ephesians 2 continues with:</p>

You are saved by grace! </span><span id="en-HCSB-29234" class="text Eph-2-6">6 Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens, </span><span class="text Eph-2-7">7 so that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.<br />

<p>We added the following chorus to Pastor Bonar&#8217;s hymn to highlight the Savior&#8217;s love that he demonstrated for us when he sacrificed his sinless life on our behalf. He truly died for those who caused his shame.</p>
